Jesse Lee Soffer is an American actor and television director. He joins the cast of “FBI: International” at the start of the series’ fourth season. Previously, Soffer starred as brash young detective Jay Halstead in the hit Dick Wolf series “Chicago P.D.” for nearly a decade, after which he was given the opportunity to get behind the camera and direct multiple episodes. Soffer’s acting career began at age 6, when he landed a Kix cereal commercial. Early on in his career, he was cast as a series regular on “Two of a Kind” starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, after which he took a role on the daytime drama “Guiding Light". After four months on the show, Soffer decided to focus on his studies and put himself through The Gunnery boarding school in Connecticut. Upon graduation, Soffer realized that he still yearned to act and quickly landed a major role as Will Munson on the daytime drama “As the World Turns". The role earned him three consecutive Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2006-2008, as well as a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor. His additional television credits include a series regular role on “The Mob Doctor”, the television movie “From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler” opposite Lauren Bacall, and in the longform presentation of “The Royale”, where he worked with director Richard Shepard. Soffer’s guest starring roles include the series “CSI: Miami”, “The Mentalist”, and “Rizzoli & Isles”. Soffer made his feature film debut opposite John Goodman and Cathy Moriarty in “Matinee”. He also starred in “Safe Passage”, where he played Susan Sarandon and Sam Shepard’s son, and he appeared in both “The Brady Bunch Movie” and “A Very Brady Sequel”. Soffer made his return to the big screen in Davis Guggenheim’s independent film “Gracie”, playing the son of Elisabeth Shue and Dermot Mulroney, and also appeared in the film “In Time”. When he is not working you can find Jesse on the golf course or trying out a new restaurant. Soffer was born in Ossining, N.Y., and his birthday is April 23.
